Here is your NHL week 7 fantasy round-up:
The Blackhawks continue to gain ground in the West and are now tied with the Ducks for the league lead. Meanwhile in the struggling Metropolitan Division, New Jersey is now slowly creeping up the standings after a disastrous start, having earned points in 5 of their last 6 games.
The East has been outplayed tremendously by the West so far this year. To put into perspective, Tampa Bay, the current team with the most points in the East, won’t be holding a playoff spot if they belonged in the West.
So enough with my fun facts, here are your fantasy updates and notes for this week!
Marcus Johansson, C/LW, Capitals (37% owned)— Now quickly being added by managers across all formats, Johansson is making his name in the fantasy world. He’s gotten more productive in the absence of Ovie, with 8 points in his last 8 games coupled with a plus-4 rating.
Ilya Bryzgalov, G, Oilers (17% owned)— Now activated by the Oilers, Bryzgalov now has a fresh start this year and his attitude looks to have changed also. Take a chance if you’re in need of a goalie and he might just repeat his numbers from his days in Glendale.
Jason Chimera, LW, Capitals (9% owned)— Chimera has been having a great start to the season and few managers have been taking notice, he’s owned in less than 10% of all the leagues. He currently has 14 points at the quarter mark and is worth it if you need a utility player at left wing.
Nathan Gerbe, C/LW, Hurricanes (12% owned)— Producing at half a point per game, one shouldn’t look past Gerbe’s production, he’s second in scoring on a struggling Canes squad. He’s always been firing at the net and now has 68 shots for the season, if he continues this pace the points are sure to come.
Valeri Nichushkin, RW, Stars (8% owned)— The Stars rookie has scored 6 points in his last 7 games and is also a plus-9 in that span. A great addition to your team now if you’re in need of quality replacements.
Scottie Upshall, RW, Panthers (1% owned)— Upshall is showing that he can still score when he’s healthy after two injury-plagued years. He has 7 points in his last 8 games, and while he’s at it, also racked up 10 PIMs and 13 hits.
Carl Soderberg, C, Bruins (1% owned)— Ever since joining the team Carl Soderberg has been a great addition to the Bruins’ checking lines. He has 4 points in the last two weeks and 8 for the season in 14 games.
