It’s about that time, Dallas Stars fans..
The start of a new season, new faces on and behind the bench and new uniforms.
One thing is for certain, Tom Gaglardi and co’ are intent on turning around this franchise. Some would argue they have put the cart before the horse in some respects. I would argue that at least they are doing something, rather than sitting on the fence.
On to Tomorrow!
The line up for opening night is as follows:
14 Jamie Benn ”C”
12 Alex Chiasson
72 Erik Cole
20 Cody Eakin
38 Vernon Fiddler
16 Ryan Garbutt
10 Shawn Horcoff
28 Lane MacDermid
18 Chris Mueller
43 Valeri Nichushkin
21 Antoine Roussel
91 Tyler Seguin
13 Ray Whitney ”A”
- Newly crowned captain Jamie Benn will be leading the Stars thursday after a some what shaky and nervous press conference with the media (but hey being made captain is a big deal right. give the kid a break!) he will most likely on a line with Seguin and veteran Erik Cole. But i think Ruff will mix it up as he sees fit.
- 10th overall pick Valeri Nichushkin will having the opportunity to step up and show his worth tonight. the 6’4, 196lb Russian was very vocal about going expecting to go pro immediately after previously signing with the KHL
- Brother Jordie Benn must have impressed at training camp this summer to make the team on opening night. Many argue that he is not ready for the big time. that being said he gets his chance to prove himself on Thursday night.
- It is not clear if Kari Lehtonen is starting on thursday night. Of course one would assume that he will be..
i’d say, Long term i think they are building a very good core but are not quite playoff bound and there is still work and experience to give the youth on the bench.
I will be watching the game intently. Dallas should be trying to make a statement right out of the gate starting with this first game of the season.
