The camps of Canelo Alvarez and Austin Trout have announced the two will square off on May 4th’s PPV card.
Mexican Media Outlets were the first to announce the bout, now it has been finalized by the Alvarez and Trout camps.
This will more than likely be the Co-Feature on the Mayweather-Guerrero card (which has not been finalized).
There has been no announcement to either HBO or Showtime broadcasting the fight, which negotiations will determine.
Trout is coming from a decision victory over Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden, where he controlled the action for most of the fight. This was a mild upset in most experts minds, and is considered to be Trout’s coming out party.
Meanwhile Canelo has been searching for opponent with everyone he signs to make a fight with pulling out in the past year due to a laundry list of odd reasons. Golden Boy seemed reluctant to make this fight at first being that it is extremely risky for their future “Golden Goose”. During this time Alvarez constantly expressed interest in making the fight happen.
I am pleasantly surprised with this fight being made, it is a pick em’ match up and we will keep you posted on any further breaks in this story as the night progresses.
