Kevin Garnett has had a very productive 18 year NBA career. He’s been to 14 All Star Games and has made plenty of All NBA and All Defense teams throughout his career.
All of this makes him a sure member of the Hall of Fame when his careers over (good thing he’s not in the MLB. They might not like his “character”). When Kevin Garnett is done playing basketball though, he’ll be more remembered for his loud mouth personality on the court.
No matter where you play sports, there’s always somebody who trash talks players throughout the game. We knew that Kevin Garnett was good at this but after hearing what he may have said to Carmelo Anthony this past week he may be crowned as the king of trash talk.
According to reports, while Garnett and Anthony were fighting for position in the 3rd quarter of the game Garnett said that Melo’s wife, LaLa, tastes like “Honey Nut Cheerios“.
This made Melo pretty angry and after exchanging words they were both given double-technicals. The problem wasn’t in this but with Melo trying to confront Garnett after the game at the team bus, earning him a justified 1 game suspension.
Melo has picked up 8 technical fouls this year, which is good for second most in the NBA. He probably was justified in defending his wife but he also went out and had one of his worst games of the year. Garnett got under Melo’s skin while saying something completely hilarious.
While other players go to the same old insults, Kevin Garnett is telling people their significant others taste like cereal. Incredible.
Is Avery Bradley the Celtics MVP?
Speaking of the Celtics, they have struggled so far this year. They have been struggling on offense and have looked tired and old. Since the return of Avery Bradley on January 2nd though, the Celtics have gone 4-1 and their 4 game winning streak is the longest of the season.
Bradley gained more playing time last year after Ray Allen was injured and after playing extremely well he replaced Allen, who left for the Heat. Bradley isn’t a great offensive talent but he has already established himself as one of the best on ball defenders in the league.
It was looking like the Celtics may need to make a trade and look towards the future, but with the return of Bradley they could re-establish themselves as a playoff team again.
Are the Lakers done?
I’ve stayed away from declaring the Lakers done for as long as possible but it may be time. As of today, they are 15-20 and on a 5 game losing streak. Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol and Jordan Hill are all out with injuries.
While Kobe Bryant is playing some of the best offense of his career, his defense is as bad as the rest of the Lakers defense. Mike D’Antoni is falling apart with the rest of this team and it seems like they may be giving up on him pretty soon if they haven’t already. The worst part?
They’ve gotten through the easiest part of the schedule so far and the worst is yet to come. Unless they get real hot real soon, the Lakers will get lost in the tough Western Conference.
Highlights from the Week
Never change JaVale McGee. Never change.
I never get tired of seeing the ball get stuck. It doesn’t happen enough.
Fancy moves Andre Iguodala
