DEN_logo-80x901. Denver Broncos (11-3) – People seem to not want to talk about how good this defense is. Best team in the AFC right now. (RW)

HOU_logo-80x902. Houston Texans (12-2) - Beating the Colts doesn’t prove a lot. Still need to face an elite quarterback and not get shredded. (RW)

ATL_logo-80x903. Atlanta Falcons (12-2) – Silenced some critics with a drubbing of the Giants.  Win at Detroit and the NFC playoffs have to come through the dome. (CC)

SF_logo-80x904. San Francisco 49ers (10-3-1) – Near epic collapse in the second half against the Pats.   Great defenses don’t give up 28 points in less than a quarter. (CC)

GB_logo-80x905. Green Bay Packers (10-4) – Does Aaron Rodgers ever have back to back sub par games?  This team could be higher if not for the replacement officials. (CC)

NE_logo-80x906. New England Patriots (10-4) - Tom Brady and Kyle Love’s arm fat will keep this team going strong. Loss to Niners actually helped prove the Pats are contenders. (RW)

SEA_logo-80x907. Seattle Seahawks (9-5) – Never been a fan of running up the score but a win doesn’t mean as much in today’s NFL, just ask the Falcons.  This Russell Wilson guy is pretty good. (CC)

IND_logo-80x908. Indianapolis Colts (9-5) - Anyone who believes this team is going to make nose in the playoffs needs to look at their schedule. Cupcake city. (RW)

WAS_logo-80x909. Washington Redskins (8-6) – No R.G. III?  No problem for the Redskins as they are really beginning to hit their stride late in the season.  Scary team come playoff time. (CC)

CIN_logo-80x9010. Cincinnati Bengals (8-6) – The Law Firm has really stepped up the last few weeks to help the playoff push. Ironic that the Bengals would feature a player named “The Law Firm”, no? (RW)

NYG_logo-80x9011. New York Giants (8-6) – Eli has looked mediocre at best the second half of the season.  A loss at Baltimore will put their playoff hopes to rest. (CC)

BAL_logo-80x9012. Baltimore Ravens (9-5) – So replacing the offensive coordinator of a contender mid-season was probably the right move. Right? Right? (RW)

DAL_logo-80x9013. Dallas Cowboys (8-6) – Big win that probably saved a couple of jobs.  The Josh Brent sideline thing is being blown way out of proportion.  If the Connecticut shootings taught us anything, it is that we shouldn’t turn away from people in a time of need. (CC)

CHI_logo-80x9014. Chicago Bears (8-6) – Jay Cutler is either the greatest competitor in the game or the biggest baby.  You decided.  This team is going nowhere and fast. (CC)

MIN_logo-80x9015. Minnesota Vikings (8-6) – What Peterson has been able to do after having ACL surgery is simply amazing.  Here’s to hoping he breaks the record. (CC)

PIT_logo-80x9016. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-7) - I don’t blame Ben. Todd Haley is a dick,  after all. (RW)

NO_logo-80x9017. New Orleans Saints (6-8) – Crushing the Bucs at home looks good on paper but not when your team has been out of playoff contention for a month. (CC)

MIA_logo-80x9018. Miami Dolphins (6-8) - I’m still trying to convince my brain that the Dolphins may have actually found a good QB. Does not compute. (RW)

STL_logo-80x9019. St. Louis Rams (6-7-1) – The defense knew that Peterson was going to get 20+ touches and still couldn’t stop him.  Still, they have an outside shot at a winning season. (CC)

TB_logo-80x9020. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-8) – Doug Martin is tired and Josh Freeman has hit a wall.  The phrase “Wait til next year.” is getting a little old for Bucs fans. (CC)

CAR_logo-80x9021. Carolina Panthers (5-9) – Props to Cam Newton for not throwing in the towel on a poor season and finishing strong.  Very winnable game against the Raiders this week. (CC)

ARI_logo-80x9022. Arizona Cardinals (5-9) – Let’s pause for a moment of silence as we remember when Larry Fitzgerald actually had a QB that could get him the ball. (CC)

TEN_logo-80x9023. Tennessee Titans (5-9) - Chris Johnson is the lone bright spot on this team. If you watched him the last few years, you’ll understand how alarming a statement that is to Titans fans. (RW)

BUF_logo-80x9024. Buffalo Bills (5-9) - Has there been a stop where something led by Dave Wannstedt wasn’t terrible? How does no one notice this?! (RW)

NYJ_logo-80x9025. New York Jets (6-8) - At least it didn’t take the entire season for them to realize Tebow and Sanchez were mistakes, M I RITE? (RW)

CLE_logo-80x90

26. Cleveland Browns (5-9) -  If I didn’t have a deep hatred for this team, I’d almost feel bad that they’re going to stunt their development with another front office shakeup. Almost. (RW)

SD_logo-80x9027. San Diego Chargers (5-9) - Can we get a countdown clock on Norv’s time left as a charger? Just something digital to go above his head when he gets on camera. (RW)

DET_logo-80x9028. Detroit Lions (4-10) – It almost looked like this team quit last week against Arizona.  With Peterson staring at the rushing title, it is only fitting that we recognize what Calvin is doing as a receiver. (CC)

OAK_logo-80x9029. Oakland Raiders (4-10) - Al Davis faked his death to ruin the team from behind the curtain. Clearly. (RW)

PHI_logo-80x9030. Philadelphia Eagles (4-10) – It is the end of an era in Philly.  I hope fans don’t regret all the Andy Reid bashing when they realize the grass isn’t always greener. (CC)

JAC_logo-80x9031. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12) - I bet if LA eyeballs this team hard enough, they’d be packed and ready to go in 12 hours. (RW)

KC_logo-80x9032. Kansas City Chiefs (2-12) - Hey, look at the bright side: Matt Barkley or Gino Smith next year! And you’ll only take a massive reach to get one of them! (RW)

I have to disagree with your ranking of Denver as #1. Falcons beat Denver in the second game of the year and have a better record. I know Denver has improved tremendously since that game, but I still disagree. Also, lets remember that Payton Manning has a pretty checkered post season career, there will be some pressure there to reprove himself and match what Eli has done by winning 2 Super Bowls.

I see your point John but it is more about where the teams are now and who has played the best recently. Kind of like college football in that regard. The Broncos haven’t lost since Week 5 and during that time the Falcons have lost two games and one against a 3 win (at the time) Panthers squad.

I do agree that Peyton has a little pressure on him with regards to the Super Bowl thing now that Eli has tow but then again I don’t think anyone really thinks that Eli is the better QB.
