The South Carolina Gamecocks squeaked by the Tennessee Volunteers 38-35 yesterday, but when this game is recalled for years to come, nobody will be talking about the score. During the 2nd quarter, on a simple run play, Junior Running Back and NFL hopeful Marcus Lattimore suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in the history of football.
Lattimore was immediately carted off the field, and was met on the sidelines by his mother, before being rushed to the emergency room. It appears as though Lattimore has suffered a broken femur along with a torn ACL, MCL, PCL, and LCL. South Carolina officials have not commented on the nature of the injury as of yet, but if this proves to be true, the injury is all but certainly a career ender for the projected first round draft pick. Perhaps the worst part of this incident was the reaction of Lattimore himself, a painful mix of shock and devastation.
We’ve spoken about horrific injuries before at The Farm Club, and the players who have managed to come back from them stronger than ever. We sincerely hope that his is the case with Marcus Lattimore.
