When recording the inning ending out in the top of the 9th, with 2 runners on, most pitchers would quickly get the out and get back to the dugout. However humilty’s name is not Al Albuquerque.
After inducing Yoenis Céspedes into an easy grounder, the reliever proceeded to kiss the ball before tossing it to the first baseman Prince Fielder for the out.
I don’t know about you guys but it was one of the cockiest, yet beautiful things I’ve seen in baseball in quite a while. He must be taking lessons from his flamboyant bullpen-mate José Valverde….
Albuquerque’s kiss did not go in vain either, the Tigers responded in the bottom of the 9th by winning the game 5-4 on a Don Kelly (yes, Don Kelly) sacrifice fly.
Here is what the Twitter world had to say about Albuquerque’s kiss…

Apparently Josh Reddick of the Oakland A’s was not too happy about it.

Neither was Jonny Gomes..

May I also remind you that Jonny Gomes was also accused of celebrating Adam Wainright’s injury during his spell with the Cincinnati Reds, the accusations however have been denied a multitude of times by Gomes.
